Hi, I AM

Have you wondered why when we meet someone we start introducing ourselves by name? I remember asking myself once why we need to name someone, what is the need, why can’t it be in a different way, sometimes we don’t get answers to questions we ponder, these are those questions which our little ones ask their parents why are trees green? Why this? Why is that? Sometimes we don’t have answers.

Let’s look at what Adam did right after he was created, did he sow? reap? or till?, but what he did was quite fascinating. What’s fascinating is that the first task that he did was ‘naming’ every creature.

Genesis 2:19-20 says

“So out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field.”

You see, naming and calling someone or something by name is so common and it has been there since the creation. That’s why I think it is there in us by birth.

And as the ancient men grew in population and started building towns for himself, he showed his love toward God by worshipping Him, and the Bible clearly states that man started to call on the name of the Lord. Genesis 4:26 At that time people began to call upon the name of the LORD.

There are several instance when children of God started to call on the name of the Lord, though they cannot address Him by His name ‘Yahweh’ they started to name Him as per the blessings or the encounters that they had with God like ‘Jehovah Shalom’, ‘Jehovah Rapha’, ‘EL-Roi’ etc to tell people and their generation who God is or what He did in their life.

Therefore the desire for man to know exactly the name of the Lord is quite evident, we see in the life of Moses, when he speaks to God, he asks the Lord what should I tell the people; if they ask who sent me and what His name is. The Lord replied to Moses, say to them that I AM sent you. I AM WHO I AM is His name what God revealed to Moses.

Exodus 3:14  God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. ” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you. ‘”

Interestingly we always need to know a name to connect us. There is one name that is given to man, just as the Bible prophetically announces about the coming of the Messiah to the world.

Isaiah 9:6  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Otherwise, He shall be called by a name which the world cannot forget nor can they find an alternative name which can be any closer the power this name has got.

The name is JESUS. Yeshua HaMashiach – Son of the Most High One.

The name of Jesus is sweeter than honey, this name has power, this name heals, redeems, gives life, liberates, reveals what true love is.

There is no other name on earth or underneath or up above other than Jesus which is exalted, His name i.e., Jesus is exalted high and is above all other names.

Philippians 2:9  Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,

The name of Jesus is so powerful that everything on this earth or elsewhere is under the authority of this name. And a day will come when everyone, yes everyone will confess that Jesus is Lord.

Philippians 2:10-11 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Only by the name of Jesus mankind will be saved.

Acts 4:12  And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name(Jesus) under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

So here is someone who is introducing Himself to you.

Hi, I AM Jesus…

Welcome Him into your heart, He will be your Light so that you will never be in darkness, He is the way, you will never be lost, He is the truth, you’ll never be deceived, He is the life, you live with Him for all eternity. Only His name can save us.

The more we honour and exalt His name, the more will we be strengthened. He will be our strength in our weakness.

Baruch Hashem Adonai! (Blessed be the name of the Lord!)
